Narrative 1: Cleared for visual app to rwy XX at about 13000 ft; set 6700 ft for the FAF; started a slow descent and turned downwind. At about 8000 ft; a terrain warning was triggered. The PF successfully executed a terrain avoidance maneuver.

Narrative 2: Approximately 17 miles east of ZZZ we were cleared the visual to runway XX. I turned to a heading of 275 and started my descent. We got a terrain warning followed quickly by a pull up too low terrain. I executed the terrain escape maneuver and began a climb. The warning went away and we proceeded to the airport and landed uneventfully.

Synopsis: A320 flight crew reported terrain warning during approach.
