Narrative 1: On the approach via Location A visual; due to both weather west of the field; and gusty tail winds at altitude; we found ourselves slightly high on the final segment of the approach. To reestablish landing aim point; I did push the nose over more than normal for my experiences into ZZZ as a ZZZ based pilot. This resulted in a 3 alert GPWS sink rate call out when the aircraft was sinking at 1800 ft./min. through 500 feet AGL. This was corrected prior to 300 feet but exceeds are normal SOP. Cause: While the tail winds and the weather west of the field created compression and get their -itis; and a little bit of last leg syndrome; in the future; I will go around due to the improper application of delayed descent.

Synopsis: B737-800 pilot reported a GPWS Alert on approach. The pilot corrected rate of descent and landed uneventfully.
