Narrative 1: An uneventful approach and landing was conducted to rwy 26R with flaps 40 and auto brakes 2 selected. The CA decelerated at a normal pace and was at a safe taxi speed upon reaching taxiways M4 and M1. The tower controller was also controlling the ground frequency in addition to tower. During our rollout; the tower controller was giving instructions to other aircraft. No direction was given to us as to which runway exit to use. The CA had the aircraft slowed to make a comfortable turn onto taxi M1 as we were to park at the gate. After we were through the turn and crossing the runway hold short line; tower directed the aircraft on final to 'pull up and go around.' Tower then told us we made an illegal turn off. Upon further review; we did find in procedures where it states under runway 26R arrivals 'Reverse turns NOT AUTHORIZED without clearance'. We had both missed that during our descent planning.

Synopsis: Air carrier First Officer reported turning in the wrong direction after landing at CYVR; resulting in an ATC-directed go-around for an aircraft on short final.
